Dahlgren Capital has entered into a partnership with Initiative 1415, a Swedish company developing projects in carbon sequestration and biodiversity.

At Dahlgren Capital, our focus has always been clear: to generate strong returns and long-term value.

For us, sustainability is not about investing in something simply because it is “green”. An investment must first and foremost be based on a strong business model, capable entrepreneurs and a clear opportunity to create value over time.

That is also why we have historically been selective when it comes to investments linked to the green transition. Many projects have had a strong vision but lacked what we look for as investors: a scalable business model, clear revenue streams and the conditions for long-term positive cash flows.

When the green transition becomes an investment opportunity
The global transition towards a more sustainable economy is creating new markets, new business models and new opportunities for entrepreneurs.

One area we are looking more closely at is the market for credits linked to carbon sequestration and nature restoration. These include carbon, biodiversity, nature and water credits that companies and organisations can purchase. They form a link between the market and projects implemented in nature – so-called nature-based solutions.

This is where several areas we find particularly interesting come together: finance, entrepreneurship, nature restoration and scalable business models.

About Initiative 1415
Initiative 1415 is a Swedish company with the ambition to make environmental and climate benefits both measurable and economically sustainable.

Through partnerships with agricultural and forest landowners, the company develops projects in carbon sequestration and biodiversity, where biodiversity and carbon sequestration are measured, quantified and certified.

Central to the model are financial incentives for landowners who implement projects that contribute to the transition. In this way, environmental and climate benefits are combined with entrepreneurship and long-term value creation – a combination in which we see significant potential.

“We don’t invest in sustainability for its own sake. We invest in strong business models and when strong return potential can also contribute to the green transition, that’s when it becomes truly interesting.” Peter Dahlgren, Founder & CEO, Dahlgren Capital

From investment to active value creation
Our ambition is to be more than a capital partner. Through our network, financial expertise and experience in developing and scaling companies, we want to contribute actively to Initiative 1415’s next phase of growth.

Together with the entrepreneurs, we see an opportunity to build a scalable and long-term sustainable business – with the potential to generate strong cash flows while contributing to a positive environmental impact.

We do not see returns and sustainability as opposing objectives. Instead, we seek opportunities where clear commercial value and long-term positive impact can reinforce one another.

This partnership marks a step for Dahlgren Capital within the green transition and is fully aligned with our ambition to invest in entrepreneurs and business models with the potential to create long-term value.
